Law School Students Included in Affirmative Action Study
A soon-to-be published academic study regarding student attitudes and affirmative action included survey responses from UC Davis School of Law students. Researchers surveyed 610 students at seven public law schools to test whether minority students who gain admission through affirmative action policies suffer doubts about their qualifications as a result. The survey found that minority students at schools with affirmative action policies felt equally confident in their qualifications as minority students at schools without such policies.
UC Davis, which does not employ affirmative actions policies during the application process, was used as a basis of comparison in the survey. One of the authors of the study, University of Iowa Professor Angela Onwuachi-Willig, is a former member of the UC Davis School of Law faculty. The study will be published in the December issue of California Law Review.
