Mission
The Center for International Law and Policy—the successor to the California International Law Center—provides a hub for research, sharing knowledge, advising, and professional development for UC Davis School of Law’s faculty, students, and alumni who are interested in international, comparative, and transnational law.
History
The University of California, Davis, School of Law (King Hall, named after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.) has a tradition of engaging in matters of global consequence. Its founding faculty included Professor Edgar Bodenheimer, who worked on the U.S. prosecution team at the Nuremberg trials, and Professor Brigitte Bodenheimer, who played a key role in developing and codifying international family law. Other influential international law faculty include Professor Homer G. Angelo, who served on the internal working group that established NATO and pioneered international environmental law; Professor Floyd Feeney, an expert in comparative criminal law whose law reform work included advising foreign governments; and Professor Friedrich “Fritz” Juenger, one of the world’s leading authorities on conflict of laws, comparative law, and international transactions. This strong tradition of faculty expertise and international engagement continues today; visit People to learn more.
