PIPS Day
The Annual Northern California Public Interest/Public Sector Legal Careers Day (PIPS Day), is a job fair and networking event designed to increase students' exposure to a vast array of public interest organizations and government agencies. Eight northern California law schools coordinate to host this event every winter in San Francisco.
PI/PS Day has two components:
-
Formal Interviews: Employers conduct on-site formal, pre-screened interviews for paid, work-study or volunteer positions. First, second, and third year students may apply for positions through PIPS Day. Formal interviews are only open to students of sponsoring schools.
-
Table Talk: Representatives from non-profit legal organizations and government agencies are available to speak with students. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the work done by a large number of organizations across the region. It also provides a good chance to introduce yourself to the public service community and make contacts that can produce positive results, either in the short-run or further down the line. Table Talk is open to the public.
For additional information see the PIPS Day website.

Students are urged not to wait until close to the deadline as system slowdowns occur as many students attempt to upload and apply and assistance will be difficult to obtain.
See the PIPS Day website for other key dates and deadlines.
To help you prepare for interviews please see our PIPS Day Common Interview Questions Guide.
If you have never used Symplicity to apply for positions or if you need a refresher, watch this 5 minute video on how to upload documents and apply using Symplicity.
For those signing up for open slot interviews here is an open slot applicant document you can use in lieu of a cover letter.
