Karran Brar ’27

Karran Brar

Karran Brar is a rising 2L at UC Davis School of Law and currently serves as the Senior Interview Editor for the Business Law Journal. He is passionate about corporate law, with a particular interest in private equity mergers and acquisitions. This interest began when he helped his parents sell their family restaurant chain in 2019. Before law school, he worked at a buy-side M&A advisory firm in Newport Beach, where he assisted private equity clients by sourcing and evaluating target deals. In 2026, he will join Goodwin Procter LLP as a summer associate in the Business Law Department in the San Francisco office.

 

Fangzhou (Nora) Long ’26

Nora Long

Fangzhou (Nora) Long is a rising 3L J.D. candidate at UC Davis School of Law. Before coming to the United States, Nora practiced for a decade in China in the areas of securities and capital markets, private equity investment, and business dispute resolution. Nora graduated with honors from Zhejiang University with an LL.B. in 2009, earned an LL.M. from Washington University in St. Louis in 2011, and completed a master’s degree in Criminal Law from Zhejiang University in 2012. She is a member of the All-China Lawyers Association, the New York State Bar, and the California Bar.

 

Business Law Society

The Business Law Society (BLS) is for students who are interested in learning more about opportunities in the business law field. BLS focuses on providing students with access to information concerning the study and practice of business law, courses, scholarships, and careers. Furthermore, BLS provides opportunities to network with alumni, attorneys and business leaders in the business law field to discuss current business law and policy issues.

Business Law Journal

The UC Davis Business Law Journal is run by dedicated law students who are committed to providing current and valuable legal and business analysis. The UC Davis Business Law Journal publishes two print issues each year and provides access to its author abstracts and interviews online.

Business Law Certificate

The Business Law Certificate Program offers students advanced exposure to business law courses and topics relevant to lawyers with business law practices. The certificate is awarded upon completion of at least 20 units of business law courses and a substantial research paper on a business law topic. Students must maintain a grade point average of at least 3.0 in graded certificate classes.

LL.M. Business Law Concentration Program

The LL.M. Business Law Concentration Program offers LL.M. students advanced exposure to business law courses and topics relevant to lawyers with business law practices. The concentration is awarded upon completion of at least 8 units of business law courses (including the foundation course),  contract law (will not count towards the 8 units) and a substantial research paper on a business law topic.
