Professor David Sandino spoke on a panel on Oct. 10 as part of alumni weekend at Santa Clara University School of Law. 

The panel focused on how technology has influenced environmental law. Sandino, a Santa Clara Law alum, addressed how California water law has served as an action-forcing mechanism for technology development, catalyzing new technologies for water supplies, conservation and reclamation.

Professor Emeritus Kevin R. Johnson served on the advisory board for a new California Museum exhibit, “Help Wanted/Leave Now: ‘Operation Wetback’ and the Revolving Door of Mass Deportation," on display through Jan. 10, 2027. 

Professor Carlton F.W. Larson spoke to HuffPost on Oct. 6 about President Donald Trump’s attention-getting suggestion that the United States would allow Iran to “take out” Los Angeles and San Diego if that would help the U.S. win the war.

Professors Raquel Aldana and Brian Soucek joined UC Davis Associate Professor of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies Rana Jaleel on the Oct.

Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Donna Shestowsky delivered the commentary address for the 2025 Best Scholarly Article at the Association of American Law Schools’ Section on Alternative Dispute Resolution Works-in-Progress Conference. The conference was held Sept. 24-25 at the University of Missouri School of Law.

The 2018 recipient of the Best Scholarly Article prize, Shestowsky also is a former chair of the ADR Section, which was named Section of the Year during her tenure.

Professor Emeritus Kevin R. Johnson spoke to the Sacramento Bee for an Oct. 5 story, "ICE agents arrest father of student on California community college campus."

Professor Courtney Joslin presented her forthcoming article “Parentage’s History and Tradition” (co-authored with Yale Law School Professor Douglas NeJaime) as part of the annual Nonmarriage Roundtable, held Oct. 2 at Boston University School of Law.

On Sept. 26, Professor Emeritus Kevin R. Johnson moderated a fireside chat with Judge Emily Vasquez about a new documentary that chronicles her life, A Job in the Shade: The Emily Vasquez Story. The event took place at UC Berkeley and featured a film screening and discussion with Vasquez, Sacramento's first Latina Superior Court judge. 

On Sept. 23, Professor Afra Afsharipour delivered the Marquette University Law School Robert F. Boden Lecture, “Behind the Closed Network: Data, Power, and Gender Stagnation in Corporate Law."
