Moot Court Team Competes in Civil Rights Competition

On February 25-26, the UC Davis Moot Court Team of William Sheslow '11 and Marina Mankaryous '12, competed in the Luke Charles Moore Invitational Civil Rights Moot Court Competition held in Washington, DC. The competition took place at Howard University School of Law and featured 16 teams from law schools across the country, including Harvard Law School, and Duke University School of Law. The UC Davis team was well-prepared and performed ably throughout the competition, but fell short of advancing deep into the final rounds.

Sheslow and Mankaryous proved a formidable team dedicated to representing King Hall skillfully and professionally.  Sheslow was named the sixth best oral advocate of more than 32 participants in the competition. The team composed a well-written brief, and competed in three rounds of oral arguments, appearing before law professors, judges, and practitioners.  The teams scored strongly and received laudatory feedback from competition judges and were recognized for their efforts.

The LCMI Competition team would like to thank the following esteemed individuals for their assistance in preparing for the competition: Professors Leticia Saucedo, Alan Brownstein, and Carlton Larson, and Sloan Simmons of Lozano Smith. The competitors also give thanks to the students who helped them prepare: Coach Karli Bobus '11 and Shea Brack '11.
