Lambda Hosts Safe Zone Training.
Lambda Law Students Association will host a Safe Zone Training on Friday, February 9, 2007 at the law school in Room 091 from 12:00 noon 3:00 pm.
Safe Zone is a program administered by the LGBT Resource Center at UC Davis. It is designed to raise awareness to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ) issues, and to discuss ways to make the spaces where we live and work more welcoming and safe for LGBTIQ people. After completing the training, participants will receive a Safe Zone sign and button to display as a symbol of support and recognition of LGBTIQ people.
The UC Davis Lambda Law Students Association is a student organized and run group representing the interests of the LGBTIQ community at the law school. Lambda's mission is community, education, and activism. To that end, Lambda sponsors events that raise awareness of LGBTIQ legal issues on campus and in the community. The group also provides a welcoming space for LGBTIQ students at King Hall through academic and professional support programs and a variety of social opportunities. Lambda additionally strives to attract and retain LGBTIQ law students.
Lambda recently hosted Shadow Day, an annual event for members of the community who are interested in attending law school to visit the school and see what it's like to be a law student for a day. On January 19, 2007, guests were paired with a Lambda student who showed prospective students around the school, answered their questions about life in law school, and took them to a law school class.
