Professors Afsharipour, Miazad Participate in Berkeley Corporate Governance Forum
Professors Afra Afsharipour and Amelia Miazad moderated panel discussions at the 2024 Berkeley Fall Forum on Corporate Governance, presented by UC Berkeley School of Law’s Center for Law and Business and Cooley Nov. 12-13.
Afsharipour moderated “Preparing for Corporate Crisis and Government Investigations,” featuring Cooley partner Andrew D. Goldstein, Zoom Chief Legal Officer Cheree McAlpine, GoFundMe Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Margaret Richardson and Joele Frank partner Kelly Sullivan.
Miazad moderated “Climate Governance on Corporate Boards,” a panel consisting of Engine No. 1 General Counsel Nate Saint Victor, Cooley partner Beth Sasfai and Persefoni Deputy General Counsel and Chief Sustainability Officer Kristina Wyatt.
Professor Amelia Miazad is an expert on the nexus between corporate law and environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. Professor Miazad’s work has been published in the Vanderbilt Law Review, Minnesota Law Review and UC Davis Law Review, among other leading publications. Before coming to Davis, Professor Miazad was a Senior Research Fellow at UC Berkeley School of Law. At Berkeley Law, she founded and led the Business in Society Institute.
Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law Afra Afsharipour’s areas of research include corporate law and governance, mergers and acquisitions, transactional law, and the legal profession. From 2018-2024, she served as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Her scholarship has appeared in the Columbia Law Review, University of Chicago Law Review, Minnesota Law Review, Vanderbilt Law Review, and UC Davis Law Review, among other leading publications.
