Gatling '05 Provides IP Perspective on Laws v. Sony

April H. Gatling '05 provided a perspective on the recent Ninth Circuit opinion in Laws v. Sony, which addressed the interplay between the state statutory right of publicity and the Copyright Act in The Daily Recorder on June 1, 2006.

Gatling is an associate in the Disputes, Trials and Appeals and Labor and Employment Groups at Weintraub Genshlea Chediak. She focuses her practice on litigation, assisting in complex business, employment, trade secret, and real estate disputes.

While a student at Davis School of Law, Gatling participated in the Public Service Law Program, interning at both the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office and California Attorney General's Office (Charitable Trusts Division). At the District Attorney's office, she received extensive court experience, conducting misdemeanor arraignments and successfully writing and arguing various motions. While at the Attorney General's office, she assisted with the regulation of numerous multi-million dollar charities and non-profit hospitals on behalf of the State of California.
