This course will explore the principles, procedures, and practices governing the resolution of cross-border commercial disputes through arbitration. It will examine the legal framework under key international instruments such as the New York Convention, while also analyzing the role of US domestic law (such as the FAA) and the roles of major arbitral institutions.

Instructor
Marcus Quintanilla serves as arbitrator, mediator, and counsel in domestic and international disputes, primarily on complex commercial matters and cases in the construction, energy, and technology sectors. Prior to serving as an arbitrator, he had a 20-year career as an advocate focused on international arbitration and cross-border litigation, and was a partner in a leading international disputes firm.
He is on the arbitrator roster of several major arbitration institutions and teaches international arbitration and mediation at UC Davis Law School.
