UC Davis National Moot Court Sweeps Regionals!

The UC Davis School of Law National Moot Court Competition teams had outstanding success in this year's regional round of the National Moot Court Competition. The regional round took place on October 26 and 27, at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles. UC Davis School of Law was admirably represented by two teams. The team of Frances Burns '08, Julie Schwartz '08, and Julia Wiley '08 went undefeated in the preliminary rounds (beating teams from Hastings and Santa Clara) before falling in a tie-breaker round on Saturday morning. The second team, of Katy Doty '08, Ali Hinga '08 and Irene Zurko '08, won the regional competition, winning its preliminary, tie-breaker, and semi-final rounds, and then beating Loyola Law School in the final round of the competition. The win qualifies the Doty-Hinga-Zurko team to represent the School of Law in the final round of the National Moot Court Competition in New York City during the last week of January.

In a memo to the School of Law community, Dean Rex Perschbacher congratulated both teams for their exceptionally hard work and great efforts. "We are proud of you, and wish Kate, Ali and Irene the best of luck in January in New York!"

The Law School and the teams thank the teams' coach, Tim Schooley, and Professors Carlton F.W. Larson and Katherine Florey for acting as mock judges prior to the competition. Without their efforts, the teams' success would not have been possible.
