UC Davis Law Students Awarded First and Second Place in Nathan Burkan Memorial Competition
Kimberly Jensen '07 and Bimal Jaysen Rajkomar '07 were awarded first and second place for UC Davis in the Nathan Burkan Memorial Competition, a national law school writing competition sponsored by the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASAP) for academic papers related to copyright law. Jenson took first prize for her essay, A Critique of the Family movie Act of 2005, and Rajkomar took second prize for his essay, Post P2P Copyright Governance: Using Code and Law to Foster Social Norms.
The Nathan Burkan Memorial Competition is sponsored annually by ASCAP in memory of ASCAP's first general counsel who died in 1936. The awards, designed to stimulate interest in the field of copyright law, have been a tradition at ASCAP since 1938.
