Try-Outs For National Mock Trial Competition
This year, UC Davis School of Law will send two teams to the regional tournament of the National Mock Trial Competition. The Association of Trial Lawyers of America is among the sponsors of this competition that attracts teams from more than 100 accredited law schools and involves more than 1,000 law students annually. Teams are judged on trying cases before a panel of lawyers, including their presentation of opening statements and closing arguments and direct and cross-examinations.
Two three-person teams will be selected to represent Davis during school try-outs held on October 22. Students will be required to present a plaintiff's opening statement of a maximum length of nine minutes and speak impromptu on a topic to be specified at the time of the try-outs.
