Students Excel at International Law Moot Court Competition

Michael Djavakhyan '09, Kathleen Doty '08, and Jimmy McBirney '08 had a stellar performance at the 49th annual Shearman & Sterling International Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington D.C.

The competition was held April 6-12, 2008, between 100 teams from 80 countries. The King Hall team advanced to the runoff rounds, where a team from India prevailed.

Professor Diane Marie Amann says she had the honor not only of mooting the team before their trip, but also of observing one of their rounds in D.C. "They did us all proud." The team was coached by Kathleen Doty '08.  Mock judges that helped included Professors Andrea Bjorklund, Jennifer Chacón, Floyd Feeney, Edward Imwinkelried, Carlton Larson, and Tim Schooley.  Students Angelo DeSantis '08 and Jessica Newman '08 also acted as mock judges prior to the competition.
