Student Regent Asks UC To Divest Holdings Tied To Sudan

Adam Rosenthal '06, a law student and student regent, made a motion for UC officials to come to the full Board of Regents in January with a plan to divest the university's holdings in four companies with business ties to the Sudanese government. The area of Darfur in Sudan has experienced an ongoing campaign of genocide, and the Sudanese government is being universally condemned for bearing responsibility in the rapes, killings, and other abuses that have left over a million people homeless.
