Six King Hall Students Named Equal Justice Summer Corps Members

Saira Aguilar '11, Stephanie Alford '11, Elisa Cozad '11, Theodore Cuison '11, Errol Dauis '11, and Oliver Ehlinger '11 have been named by Equal Justice Works as 2009 Summer Corps members.  The King Hall students were among 420 members selected from 1,184 applicants to the program, which will provide a $1,000 AmeriCorps education award voucher upon completion of a minimum of 300 hours of summer service at a nonprofit public interest organization.

Aguilar and Dauis will work with Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles in Los Angeles; Alford will serve with Sacramento Child Advocates in Sacramento; and Cuison will be at the East Bay Community Law Center in Berkeley.  The others will work outside California, with Cozad at the Georgia Capital Defender in Atlanta and Ehlinger at Montana Legal Services Association in Billings.

Sponsored by Equal Justice Works, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that promotes public service careers for attorneys, Summer Corps provides critically needed legal assistance to low-income and underserved communities in 44 states and the District of Columbia and allows members to gain first-hand experience and legal skills in areas such as client intake, individual representation, research, and writing.
