Sarmiento '07 Receives Community Service Award
Salvador Gregorio Sarmiento Torres '07 was named Outstanding Graduate Student by UC Davis for his commitment to serving minority and poor communities by addressing legal and human rights issues.
In Law School, Sarmiento Torres served as the Pacific region director of the National Latino/a Law Student Association, political chairman of the La Raza Law Student Association, and has served more than 1,000 hours with the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Human Rights. He said that as a law student he sees "both the low numbers of poor and minority representation, and the immense wealth and privilege in our society."
The award was one of 107 student community service awards in recognition of a commitment and dedication to volunteer work.
