National Mock Trial Competition

UC Davis School of Law will enter two three-person teams in the regional tournament of the National Mock Trial Competition. Tryouts will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2006, in the Moot Courtroom. During tryouts, law students are required to present a prosecutor's opening statement on the case, State of Lone Star v. Richard Grouper, and speak impromptu on a topic to be specified at the time of the tryouts.

The Association of Trial Lawyers of America is among the sponsors of this competition that attracts teams from more than 100 accredited law schools and involves more than 1,000 law students annually. Teams are judged on trying cases before a panel of lawyers, including their presentation of opening statements and closing arguments and direct and cross-examinations.
