Michael Marriott ‘11 Wins ABA International Law Writing Competition

Michael Marriott '11 has been honored with the ABA Section of International Law 2010 Rona R. Mears Student Writing Competition & Scholarship Award.

The award was given on February 23 for Marriott's article "Potential for Future Growth of the International Criminal Court: Possible Expansion Towards Universal Jurisdiction," which provides an analysis suggesting how the International Criminal Court can work within the limitations of customary international law and remain true to its purpose as a court of last resort while expanding its jurisdiction to make a meaningful step towards the exercise of universal jurisdiction. The piece will be published in one of the upcoming publications of the International Law section of the ABA.
