Legal Aspects of Counter-Terrorism

Professor Amos Guiora, Director of the Institute for Global Security Law and Policy at Case Western Reserve School of Law, spoke at a seminar sponsored by the Jewish Law Students Association. The seminar, Legal Aspects of Counter-Terrorism, was held on October 23, 2006, at noon in the Moot Courtroom. 

Guiora writes and lectures extensively on issues such as: Legal Aspects of Counter Terrorism, Global Perspectives of Counter-Terrorism, Terror Financing, International Law and Morality in Armed Conflict, and Educating Israel Defense Force Commanders and Soldiers on International Law and Morality.

Before joining Case in 2004, Guiora served for 19 years in the Israel Defense Forces Judge Advocate Generals Corps (Lt. Col. Ret.). He held a number of senior command positions, including Commander of the IDF School of Military Law, Judge Advocate for the Navy and Home Front Command, and the Legal Advisor to the Gaza Strip.

The Jewish Law Students Association (JLSA) integrates the social, religious, and political aspects of Jewish culture in providing a variety of programs at UC Davis School of Law. JLSA organizes and sponsors social events, political discussions, and holiday celebrations. The group is comprised of law students committed to sharing the cultural aspects of Judaism and increasing awareness of issues facing Jews today. JLSA is affiliated with the local chapter of Hillel and the National Jewish Law Students Network.
