King Hall Teams Impress in National Appellate Advocacy Competition 

UC Davis School of Law students made an impressive showing in the American Bar Association's National Appellate Advocacy Competition held at the United States District Courthouse in San Francisco on February 25-27, with the team of Lorin Kline '10, Roey Rahmil '10, and Kelly Van Aken '10 advancing to the final round.

King Hall sent two teams to the competition, one consisting of Kline, Rahmil, and Van Aken, and the other of Brett Kinney '10, Shaudee Navid '11, and Scott Grzenczyk '11.  The latter team prevailed against University of Oregon and the University of South Dakota in the preliminary rounds, advancing to the semifinals before being edged by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  The team of Kline, Rahmil, and Van Aken prevailed over UC Berkeley, UC Hastings, and University of Oregon in the preliminary rounds and defeated the University of Memphis in the semifinals before facing the University of Texas in the finals, where they were narrowly defeated, losing in a tiebreaker by just three points out of 400.

The teams thanked Kate Doty ‘08, Professors Tim Schooley, Ed Imwinkelried, and Andrea Bjorklund, as well as Craig Baumgartner '10 and Victoria Hassid '10 for all of their help with preparing for the competition.
