Keegan James '22 awarded Browning Fund fellowship for public interest labor law

The Peggy Browning Fund has awarded a prestigious public interest labor law fellowship to Keegan James ’22. James will spend the fellowship working for Farmworker Justice of Washington, D.C.

James is one of 91 fellowship recipients drawn from a pool of more than 500 applicants. The fellowships are awarded to students who have excelled in law school and demonstrated their commitment to workers’ rights through their previous educational, work, volunteer and personal experiences.

The Peggy Browning Fund is a not for-profit organization established in memory of Margaret A. Browning, a prominent union-side attorney who was a member of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) from 1994 until 1997.

James grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and studied political science. Before law school, he worked with various organizations advocating for migrant laborers. He took this passion abroad as he conducted comparative research on migrant worker rights in Nepal, Jordan and Chile. At King Hall, he has worked on the Journal of International Law and Policy and the Social Justice Law Review.

Until COVID-19-related stay-at-home orders are lifted, James and the other Browning Fund fellows will work remotely.
