John Wallis ‘15, Matthew McGuffin '16 Receive Award of Merit from Bar Association of San Francisco

John Wallis '15 and Matthew McGuffin '16 received the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) Award of Merit for their work on a BASF special task force convened to provide recommendations for improving the military justice system. BASF brought the task force together in May 2014 following a request from the Office of the General Counsel in the Department of Defense.

The King Hall students "joined the task force and worked all summer with the group of six attorneys, providing numerous research reports including analysis of recent congressional legislation and summaries of articles by key leaders. This work was used by the task force to form their recommendation to the BASF board of directors in September," BASF Interim Executive Director and General Counsel Yolanda Jackson wrote in a letter to Dean Kevin R. Johnson.

The Award of Merit, BASF's highest honor, was presented to all the members of the Department of Defense Task Force at the organization's Annual Luncheon on December 10, 2014.
