Environmental Issues and the Law
Professor Holly Doremus was a speaker in the 2007 Environmental Solutions Series: "Searching for Solutions to Challenging Environmental Issues in California," sponsored by the John Muir Institute of the Environment Public Service Research Program. Her lecture, "Can Environmental Law Learn to Swim? The Challenges of Protecting and Restoring Aquatic Environments in California," was held on February 6, 2007, at noon in Hart Hall, UC Davis.
Doremus' special interests include environmental law, land use law, and law and science. She is a professor of law at the Law School and teaches in the UC Davis Ecology graduate program. She received her J.D. from UC Berkeley and her Ph.D. in Plant Biology from Cornell University. She regularly tries to cross disciplinary lines in her research and teaching. She has written extensively about environmental and natural resources law and policy, with particular emphasis on biodiversity conservation and on the interplay of science and policy.
