Ellen Howard '10, Elizabeth Tedsen '10 to Receive Environmental Law Scholarships

Ellen Howard '10 and Elizabeth Tedsen '10 will receive scholarships from the Sacramento County Bar Association (SCBA) Environmental Law Section honoring their commitment and excellence in environment law.  They will receive an award of $1,000 at the SCBA Environmental Law Section's joint luncheon with the California State Bar Association Environmental Law Section on January 20 in Sacramento.

Before deciding to pursue a career in environmental law at UC Davis, Tedsen studied environmental policy as an undergraduate at Claremont McKenna College. She is an Environmental Law Certificate candidate at King Hall and has been an active member of UC Davis's Environmental Law Society, serving as a co-chair and symposium chair.   She is also an editor for Environs: Environmental Law and Policy Journal and a member of the Pace Environmental Moot Court Competition team.  She has worked as an intern for Kenyon Yeates and for the Sierra Club in San Francisco, and externed with the U.S. Attorney's Office Environment and Natural Resources Division. 

Howard has been an active member of King Hall's environmental law community throughout her time at King Hall. She is currently serving as co-chair of the Environmental Law Society, managing editor for Environs: Environmental Law and Policy Journal, and as a team member for the 2010 Pace Environmental Moot Court team.  She helped organize the ELS Symposium on the Evolving Endangered Species Act, and has worked as a legal intern for the State Water Resources Control Board Office of Enforcement, the California Coastal Commission, and the Center for Biological Diversity.  She received her undergraduate degree in Environmental Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2003. Prior to law school, she worked as a wildlife biologist for an environmental consulting firm in San Diego.
