Eddie Cohen '08 Served as Delegate at the International Law Conference in Budapest

Eddie Cohen, second year UC Davis law student served as a delegate to the conference of the International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists in Budapest, Hungary on November 16-19.  Cohen's participation was made possible by the kind support of the King Hall Annual Fund, Hillel of Davis and Sacramento, and Bnai Israel Congregation.

Cohen is currently serving as the President of the National Jewish Law Students Association (NJLSA) and participated in the conference as a representative of Jewish law students nationwide. Participating in the conference were Supreme Court Justices from Israel and Hungary, former Ministers of Justice from Canada and Israel, the Israeli Ambassador to Hungary and Jewish lawyers and jurists from across the Globe.

The conference included discussion of both historical and contemporary issues. The point of departure was commemoration of the Hungarian Holocaust and the Jewish lawyers who perished in it. The conference also focused on modern manifestations of anti-semitism and legal methods to combat it.
