Brad Poore '08 Qualifies for U.S. Olympic Team Trials

Brad Poore '08 qualified for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in the Men's Marathon at the California International Marathon (CIM) held December 3, 2006. CIM, a 26-mile, 385-yard, point-to-point, USATF-certified road race, started at the Folsom Dam, passed through outlying Sacramento-area communities and finished at the historic California State Capitol building in Sacramento. Poore placed 12th overall with a time of 2:21:50. Poore will head to New York City in 2007 to vie for a spot on the 2008 Olympic team.

Another UC Davis School of Law marathoner, Linda Somers Smith '86, competed in the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in the Women's Marathon in Atlanta, Georgia. Somers Smith finished the women's marathon with a torn Achilles tendon, taking an amazing 31st place. She also competed in the 2004 U.S. Olympic Womens Marathon Trials.
