Bobus '11, Kuchinsky '11 Compete in Labor & Employment Moot Court

On March 17-20, the UC Davis Moot Court Team of Karli Bobus '11 and Alexei Kuchinsky '11 competed in the 34th Annual Robert F. Wagner Labor & Employment Moot Court Competition in New York. The competition took place at New York Law School and featured 50 teams and more than 100 competitors from schools across the country.  This is the largest single national competition.  The UC Davis team was well prepared and performed skillfully, but fell short of advancing.

Bobus and Kuchinsky proved a formidable team dedicated to representing King Hall proficiently and professionally.  At the end of the first preliminary round the judges commented that they preformed "stupendously!"  The team composed a well-written brief, and competed in three rounds of oral arguments, appearing before law professors, judges, and practitioners.  Other teams even commented on the creativity of the various arguments the team made in their brief and oral argument rounds.  The teams scored strongly and received laudatory feedback from all competition judges and were recognized for their efforts. 

The Wagner Competition Moot Court Team would like to thank Professors Leticia Saucedo, Floyd Feeney, Edward Imwinkelried, Courtney Joslin, and Jeffrey Edwards of Mastagni, Holstedt, Amick, Miller & Johnson for their assistance in preparing for the competition.   The competitors also give thanks to their Moot Court Board Coaches Shea Brack '11 and Barbara Borkowski '11.  Additionally, thanks are due to the students who helped them prepare:  Scott Grzenczyk '11, James Tiehm '11, Jamie Okh '11, Phil Person '11, and Joshua Eisenberg '11.
