ABA Law Student Division Negotiation Competition

Micah Nilsson '07 and Christopher Hughes '07 were invited to compete in the ABA Law Student Negotiation Competition National Finals, which will be held in conjunction with the ABA Midyear Meeting in Miami, Florida on February 10-11, 2007. Before advancing to the nationals, Nilsson and Hughes competed with 23 teams from 12 law schools in the Region 9 Negotiation Competition on November 11-12, 2006, in San Diego.

The ABA Law Student Division's Negotiation Competition promotes greater interest among law students in legal negotiation and provides a means for them to practice and improve their negotiating skills. The competition simulates legal negotiations in which law students, acting as lawyers, negotiate a series of legal problems. The simulations consist of a common set of facts known by all the participants and confidential information known only to the participants representing a particular side. All of the simulations deal with the same general topic, but the negotiation situation varies with each round and level of the competition. This year's topic is Energy and Natural Resources.
