McGuireWoods is a proud member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). These partnerships will each provide a unique opportunity for a diverse 1L law student to work side by side with both McGuireWoods attorneys and the legal department of a national organization during a 10-week paid internship in the summer of 2023. The 1L LCLD Scholar will spend 6–8 weeks in one of the McGuireWoods offices listed above and the remaining time in the legal department of the partner organization.

McGuireWoods’ annual Diversity Scholarship Program will award up to eight $5,000 scholarships to diverse current first-year law students with an expected graduation year of 2020, who are committed to contributing to and supporting diversity within the legal profession. Applicants are considered based on their involvement in community activities and diversity related student organizations, personal achievements, and law school and undergraduate academic performance.
The 2023 1L LCLD Scholars will be provided with multiple networking opportunities, including:
• Attendance at the 1L LCLD Scholars Virtual Summit, May 23–25, 2023
• Participation in the first 6–8 weeks of the firm’s summer program
• Additional networking events throughout the summer
