Professors Larson, Shestowsky Granted Tenure

Acting Professors Carlton Larson and Donna Shestowsky were approved for promotion by the Office of the UC Davis Vice Provost for Academic Personnel on March 17, effectively granting tenure to the King Hall faculty members, effective July 1, 2009.

Carlton Larson's research interests focus on constitutional law and legal history, with a strong emphasis on the 18th century.  He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his law degree from Yale Law School, where he was an Articles Editor of The Yale Law Journal and a co-recipient of the Benjamin Scharps Prize. Prior to joining the UC Davis faculty, he spent three years in private practice and served as a law clerk to Judge Michael Daly Hawkins of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Donna Shestowsky teaches Criminal Law, Negotiation Strategy, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and a seminar in Legal Psychology.  She earned B.A. and M.S. degrees in Psychology from Yale University and holds a J.D. and Ph.D. in Psychology from Stanford University, where she taught courses in legal psychology and established a research lab devoted to the empirical study of juries and dispute resolution processes. During the 2003-2004 academic year she was on the faculty at Northwestern University School of Law and the Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern).  She was the 2007 recipient of the UC Davis School of Law Distinguished Teaching Award.
