Negotiation Team Scores High at ABA Competition
Sarah McBride '09, Jeffrey Osofsky '09, Brooks Parfitt '09, and Yuri Kvichko '10 represented the UC Davis School of Law at the American Bar Association (ABA) Negotiations West Coast Regional Competition November 1-2 at the California Western School of Law in San Diego. The team of McBride and Osofsky advanced to the competition finals and secured a third-place finish for UC Davis, with hopes of advancing to the National Finals.
Twenty-four teams took part in the Regional Competition. In recent years, the ABA has advanced as many as three teams from the Regional Competition for the National Finals, and the UC Davis team is waiting to hear whether it will be invited to compete for a national title in San Antonio, Texas on January 23-24.
Jeffrey Osofsky said the team is grateful to the assistance of Professors Donna Shestowsky and Dylan Malagrino in helping them prepare. In addition, the team greatly benefited from the support of the following students who served as opponents during practice rounds: Jeremiah Harvey ‘10, Aaron Lipton ‘09, Valorie Cogswell ‘09, Tracy Tjoeng ‘09, Asha Jennings ‘09, Megan Bruce ‘09, Jeffrey Edwards ‘09, and James Litwinovich ‘09.
