Moot Court Team Vies in Tulane Sports Law Competition

On March 2-4, 2011, the UC Davis Moot Court team competed in the 16th Tulane University Law School Sports Law Moot Court Competition in New Orleans, Louisiana.  The competition took place at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana in New Orleans and featured moot court teams representing 36 law schools from across the country.  The UC Davis team came prepared and fared well in the competition, but ultimately did not advance to the final rounds.

John Puccinelli '11 and Mark Ellinghouse '11 worked together in the competition. After preparing a brief, the team competed in three rounds of oral arguments, appearing before professors of law, superior court judges, and practitioners.  The team members scored strongly and received excellent feedback from competition judges and were recognized for their efforts at the post-competition reception.  Ellinghouse was named the third-best oral advocate of more than 75 participants at the competition.
