Media Cover Professor Joh's Talk on Gathering of DNA Tied to Tulsa Race Massacre Reparations

Tulsa, Okla. media outlets covered Professor Elizabeth Joh’s appearance as a featured speaker at the Aug. 25 town hall “DNA Databases: Know Your Rights.” The town hall was hosted by Justice for Greenwood, an advocacy group organizing for reparations on behalf of descendants of people killed in the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

The event focused on issues of privacy raised by the city of Tulsa’s project asking the descendant community to contribute DNA samples in order to identify mass grave victims.

The Tulsa World newspaper and Tulsa’s local NBC affiliate, KJRH-TV reported on the event.

Professor Joh's scholarship focuses on criminal law and procedure, with a special emphasis on the police use of new technologies. She is the recipient of King Hall’s 2017 Distinguished Teaching Award.
