Krystal Callaway Jaime Quoted in Sacramento Bee on Roseville Child's Death Case
Krystal Callaway Jaime, supervising attorney for the UC Davis School of Law's Family Protection and Legal Assistance Clinic, commented for the Sacramento Bee on the case of a Roseville woman who has been prohibited by court order from attending the funeral of her daughter, who was found dead in her custody April 4. Though arrested on suspicion of murder, the woman has not been charged in the case.
While the mother is innocent until proven guilty in the eyes of the criminal court system, that standard does not apply to family court matters, said Jaime. "You have to remember that the burden of proof is much different in a civil matter," Jaime said.
