King Hall Vies in National Appellate Advocacy Competition

Two teams from UC Davis School of Law competed in the National Appellate Advocacy Competition (NAAC) hosted by the American Bar Association (ABA) in San Francisco on February 24-26.  The competition took place at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in San Francisco and featured 32 teams from 17 schools from across the United States.  Both teams from UC Davis School of Law came prepared and fared well, but ultimately did not advance to the national round in Chicago, Illinois.

The team of Scott Grzenczyk '11, Kyle Morishita '11, and Shaudee Navid '11 lost in a semi-final round. The other team was comprised of Edward Brown '12, Ariel Brownell '12, and James Tiehm '11.  Both teams scored strongly and received excellent feedback from competition judges.

The competitors thanked several members of the King Hall faculty for helping them to prepare, include Associate Dean Vikram Amar and Professors Diane Marie Amann, Alan Brownstein, Angelo DeSantis; Lawrence Green; Elizabeth Joh; and Clayton Tanaka, as well as CILC Fellow Kate Doty '08.  The King Hall teams also thanked Jimmie Johnson, Ryan McCarroll '01, and Moot Court Board members Karli Bobus '11, Peter McGuiness '11, Richard Nguyen '11, Camille Papini-Chapla '11, and Daniel Watts '11, as well as team coaches Jackie Sutton '11 and Anurita Varma '11.
