King Hall Students Present Argument at Ninth Circuit

Scott Grzenczyk '11 presented an oral argument before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on October 4.  The briefing was prepared by Rachel Prandini '10, Kelly Martin '11, and Scott, with Serena Salinas '12 providing additional research and support.  The case was presented before Judges Jay S. Bybee, Raymond C. Fisher, and Cynthia Holcomb Hall. 

Professor Holly Cooper, who oversaw the students' efforts, said that thanks were due to Professors Edward Imwinkelried, Carter White, and Raha Jorjani; along with California International Law Center Fellow Kathleen Doty, Jayashri Srikantiah, Professor of Law and Director of the Immigrants' Rights Clinic at Stanford Law School; Sin Yen Ling, staff attorney at the Asian Law Caucus; Assistant Federal Defender Carolyn Wiggin, and others for assisting in the preparation of this case. 

"Many, if not all, of the issues raised in preparations were asked in oral argument, so this assistance was indispensable," said Professor Cooper.  "And thank you to the students for all of your hard work and for raising to light the obstacles and frustrations confronted by detained immigrants."
