Katherine Wang '12 Wins JILP Pritikin Prize

Katherine Wang '12 has been named as the recipient of the UC Davis Journal of International Law & Policy's 2011 Pritikin Prize.  Wang will receive a cash prize of $1,000, and her winning submission, "The Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement: Motivations for Investor-State Dispute Settlement Provisions," will be published in JILP's Spring 2012 issue. 

JILP received many excellent submissions for this year's competition, which were reviewed by Professors Diane Marie Amann, Andrea Bjorklund, and Anupam Chander.  The judges were so impressed with the overall quality of the submissions that the runner-up article, "A Culture of Human Rights in East Asia: Deconstructing ‘Asian Values' Claims," by Uyen Le '11, will also be published  in JILP in Spring 2012.

The Pritikin Prize is awarded from the Theodore M. Pritikin Memorial Fund, which was established to honor Theodore Pritikin '94, who founded the UC Davis Journal of International Law & Policy. The fund provides an annual prize for a student writing competition sponsored by JILP, which awards the prize to a King Hall student who submits a previously unpublished paper that makes the most significant contribution to legal knowledge in the realm of international law and policy.
