Immigration Law Clinic Students Win Again!
Immigration Law Clinic students Hoa Hoang '08, Jessica Zweng '09, Asha Jennings '09, and Carolyn Hsu '09 won a major victory for a Salvadoran client in detention. The students determined that the client had a viable yet complicated claim to U.S. citizenship. Professors Courtney Joslin and Carol Bruch provided legal expertise on family law and conflicts of law. The students utilized resources at the Library of Congress, the Salvadoran Consulate, the Texas Law Library, and the UC Davis Mabie Law Library. Professor Holly Cooper said, "The students working on the case were true examples of zealous advocates and conquered one of the most complex cases I have ever worked on in my legal career." The Board of Immigration Appeals ruled in the immigrant's favor and remanded the case to immigration court for further proceedings.
