Four King Hall students shine in National Ethics Trial Competition

The National Ethics Trial Competition, hosted in March by McGeorge School of Law, brought together student teams from more than 30 law schools around the country.

UC Davis School of Law was proudly represented in this competition by four exceptional student advocates: Annie Cho ’22, Mikaila Skaroff ’22, Val Bianchi-Demicheli ’22, and Casey Loosbrock ‘23. The team was coached by Carolyn Frank of the Attorney General’s office, and King Hall alums Riley Doyle ’20 and Eastern District of California Magistrate Judge Dennis Cota ’86, longtime Trial Practice instructor and coach at King Hall.

Skaroff was judged best advocate in both rounds in which she competed, and Cho was recognized for the best cross-examination in her final round. Loosbrock presented an outstanding opening statement without benefit of having taken either Evidence or Trial Practice. Bianchi-Demicheli demonstrated a confident mastery of the Zoom format, delivering a passionate and effective closing argument.
