Mexico Honors UC Immigrant Legal Services Center Executive Director Aidín Castillo ’11
The government of Mexico has honored UC Immigrant Legal Services Center Executive Director Aidín Castillo Mazantini '11 with its prestigious Ohtli Award.
The award is Mexico's highest recognition for individuals who have opened pathways to Mexicans abroad, specifically in the United States.
Consul General of Mexico in Sacramento Christian Tonatiuh González Jiménez presented Castillo with her award at a ceremony held at Sacramento’s Leland Stanford Mansion on Sept. 11.
Castillo has led the Immigrant Legal Services Center since 2022. Based at King Hall, the center serves the immigration-related needs of students throughout the University of California system.

An experienced immigration attorney with expertise in removal defense, Castillo previously served as director of the immigrants’ rights practice at Oakland’s Centro Legal de la Raza.
Born in Mexico, Castillo was the first person in her family to attend college. She is a double Aggie, having obtained both her undergraduate and law degrees from UC Davis. She received UC Davis Law’s Rising Star Alum Award in 2025.
UC Davis Law Professor and Immigration Law Clinic Co-director Amagda Pérez, who received the Ohtli Award in 2019, attended the ceremony honoring Castillo.
