Eric Toscano '09 Publishes Essay in Daily Journal
Eric Toscano '09 has published an essay on "Loving Big Law" in the "New Lawyer" supplement published by the Daily Journal. The supplement features works by recent law school graduates who write about their future in an uncertain legal market. Toscano, who was president of the UC Davis Law Students Association and a winner of the Frank and Margaret Johns Alumni Award for dedication and involvement at King Hall, writes about the somewhat unexpected career path that led him to his new position as an associate at Reed Smith in San Francisco.
"Although three years ago I never would have imagined I would begin my career in a large firm, my transition from potential immigration lawyer to commercial litigator came about as I realized what I love most about the practice of law," Toscano writes. "At the same time, I have not lost sight of what inspired me to become a lawyer in the first place: a desire to work towards more responsible government. I am thrilled to begin my career doing the type of legal work I know I will enjoy while simultaneously fulfilling my goal of serving the public."
