Anh Nguyen '11 and Remy Goldsmith '11 Intern with Yolo County DA
King Hall students Anh Nguyen '11 and Remy Goldsmith '11 will spend the summer volunteering with the Yolo County District Attorney as part of the District Attorney's Summer Legal Internship Program.
Nguyen and Goldsmith were selected from more than 30 applicants following On Campus Interviews last spring and a subsequent session in which they conducted opening statements in Presiding Judge David Rosenberg's courtroom as six senior deputy district attorneys observed and critiqued them.
The program begins with a two-day training and orientation. Over the course of the summer, the interns will draft motions and conduct research on a variety of cases as well as observe trials, and may be given the opportunity to conduct a jury trial in a misdemeanor case.
Kari McFadden '08, who participated in the summer intern program in 2008, is now a deputy district attorney at the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office. "As a practicing deputy district attorney in another county, I am so grateful for all I learned as a legal intern at Yolo County and would encourage anyone considering prosecution as a career to apply," she said in a Yolo County DA's Office release. The press release prompted articles in both the Davis Enterprise and Woodland Democrat.
