Amagda Pérez Comments on Obama Immigration Program for Sacramento Bee
Amagda Pérez '91, executive director of the California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation and supervising attorney for the UC Davis Immigration Law Clinic, commented for the Sacramento Bee on how undocumented immigrants may qualify for temporary immunity from deportation under President Obama's recently announced "lawful action" program.
Pérez said that said many undocumented immigrants will qualify for temporary work permits, driver's licenses, relief from deportation, and the right to travel outside the U.S. for humanitarian reasons such as to visit a seriously ill family member. She also discussed the documentation immigrants will need to show five years of continuous residence in the U.S.
