Alexis Alvarez '11 Named as 2010 Ms. JD Fellow

Alexis Alvarez '11 has been named as one of twenty 2010 Ms. JD Fellows chosen from more than 300 applicants representing 75 law schools.  Fellows were selected based on their academic performance, leadership, and dedication to advancing the status of women in the profession. 

Alvarez, who spent her childhood in Mexico and is fluent in Spanish, earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Colorado State University, Ft. Collins.  She has served as an AmeriCorps Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA) and a victim advocate for the Victim Assistance Team at Colorado State, and tutored at-risk youth through the Triunfo Program. At King Hall, her activities have included participation in the UC Davis School of Law Humanitarian Aid Legal Organization (HALO) trip to provide legal assistance to the poor and  in East St. Louis, participation in the Ya Es Hora, Hagase Contar census campaign, and serving as recruitment and retention co-chair for La Raza Law Students.  She is also a Senior Articles Editor for Volume 44 of the UC Davis Law Review.

Ms. JD is an online community that provides a forum for dialogue and networking among women lawyers and aspiring lawyers.
