Summer & Post-Grad Database Access

Planning ahead for summer research or post-graduation work? Here's what you need to know about access to Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, CEB, and other library resources.

Westlaw

Summer Access:

Continuing students may use Westlaw over the summer for non-commercial research, including work for internships, externships, or academic projects. Student access cannot be used for billable work.

After Graduation:

Graduating students who enroll in the Westlaw Graduate Elite Program are eligible for six free months of Westlaw Precision. Access is limited to 60 hours per month and must be for non-commercial use (i.e., no billable work).

Lexis

Summer Access:

Continuing students retain access to Lexis over the summer. Please note that Public Records cannot be used for employment purposes.

Check with your employer before using a student login for work; some prefer use of employer-issued credentials.

After Graduation:

Graduates retain access to Lexis+ for six months after graduation. No additional registration is required.

Pursuing public interest work? You may qualify for extended Lexis access. Check eligibility and apply at lexisnexis.com/grad-access.

Bloomberg Law

Summer Access:

Continuing students may use Bloomberg Law over the summer without restrictions.

New to Bloomberg Law? Email lawlibref@ucdavis.edu for a registration code.

After Graduation:

Graduating students receive six months of free, unlimited access to Bloomberg Law following graduation. No additional registration is required.

CEB

Summer Access:

Access to both CEB OnLAW and the CEB AccessLaw program is unrestricted over the summer. Your student account will remain active and available throughout the summer. No additional registration required.

After Graduation:

Register for AccessLaw by May 31 with Law School Code DVX25 to extend your access for 18 months after graduation.

Registration is strongly encouraged. CEB materials are used widely across practice areas in California.

Sign up for a personal account through CEB's AccessLaw program:

  • Go to: ceb.com/aba
  • Select UC Davis School of Law and enter this unique code: DVX25 (valid until May 31, 2025)

Continuing students have full summer access to HeinOnline and other online library subscription resources. Check the law library's A-Z Databases page for information about logging in to resources from off campus.
