On Nov. 12, join CELPC for a dynamic discussion with leaders from the California Attorney General’s Office and California Air Resources Board about the characteristics of a healthy workplace culture, and why every applicant should understand how to approach their job search with intention and discernment. Learn practical tips related to preparing for interviews, surviving a challenging workplace culture, and creating a pathway to your most fulfilling career. The panelists will share their hard-earned wisdom through real examples from the spectrum of workplace cultures and be available to answer questions.

Annadel Almendras ’97, Senior Assistant Attorney General, Natural Resources Law Section
Annadel Almendras manages a team of 65 attorneys, representing state agencies that include CAL FIRE, Department of Fish and Wildlife, Department of Food and Agriculture, Department of Water Resources, and the State Water Resources Control Board and regional water boards, in both affirmative and defensive litigation. Previously, she served on the Attorney General’s Energy Task Force and represented the Department of Water Resources in litigation arising from the California Energy Crisis of 2000-2001.

Morice Mabry, Coaching and Career Development Unit Manager, Department of Justice
Morice Mabry created and leads the California Department of Justice’s Coaching and Career Development Unit. A Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), he brings over 25 years of human resources leadership and expertise in staff and leadership development. He has received three Attorney General Awards for excellence and is the author of The What If Effect: Making a Better You Through Changing Habits.

Abigail May, Deputy Counsel, California Air Resources Board
Abigail May helps the CARB Chief Counsel lead the Legal Office, providing legal services to the Board to achieve its air quality, climate, and environmental justice goals. Abigail joined CARB as an attorney in 2016, working on regulations and program development and implementation, litigation, enforcement cases, federal SIP issues, comments on federal proposals, equity and environmental justice programs, and compliance with the Bagley-Keene Act, the Public Records Act, and the Administrative Procedure Act.

Elizabeth Sarine, B.S. ’01, Deputy Attorney General, Natural Resources Law Section
Within the Attorney General’s Office, Elizabeth Sarine co-leads the California Environmental Quality Act Practice Group and co-chairs the API Employee Resource Group. In 2024, the Sacramento Bee recognized her as one of the Top 20 AAPI Change Makers. In 2023, she received the Asian/Pacific Bar Association of Sacramento’s Community Service Award for spearheading community-organizing efforts that led to Attorney General Rob Bonta’s historic public acknowledgment of the complicity of the Office in the incarceration and dispossession of Japanese Americans during World War II.
