Saying goodbye to founding faculty member Frank Baldwin

I received some sad news recently from Jay Carlisle ’69, about the passing of Professor Frank B. Baldwin III, a King Hall founding faculty member who went on to have a distinguished legal career in Philadelphia.

Professor Baldwin taught at UC Davis Law from 1966-69, and was very popular with students, Jay said. Professor Baldwin’s Civil Procedure course at King Hall even inspired Jay to teach Civil Procedure at Pace Law, where he had his own very celebrated career as a professor.

The Philadelphia Inquirer ran a lengthy obituary recounting Professor Baldwin’s many professional achievements. After leaving UC Davis Law, Professor Baldwin returned to his native Philadelphia, where he held several positions with law firms. His last job was as legal counsel and clerk of the Presbytery of Philadelphia.

Without Professor Baldwin and other founding faculty, King Hall could never be what it is today. I am very sorry to hear of his passing.
