Promoting progress, together

As I take daily walks around campus with my dog, Ailie, I reflect on the challenging times in which we live. Fortunately, thinking of the strength and enthusiasm of our King Hall community always brings me hope.

The incoming class of 2023, which brings amazing academic credentials, truly mirrors the diverse world in which we live. Women make up an amazing 71 percent of the class, students of color compose more than half the class, and 19 percent of the class identifies as LGBTQ.

King Hall has reaffirmed its longtime commitment to racial justice with a speaker series featuring scholars, attorneys, and policy-makers. The Racial Justice Speaker Series has initiated meaningful conversations among the King Hall community and the public.

We are proud of our excellent and diverse faculty. Our professors remain committed to addressing the most pressing social issues of our time. In the past few months, Professors Raquel Aldana and Courtney Joslin were elected to the American Law Institute (ALI), widely considered the nation's preeminent law reform organization. Professor Ashutosh Bhagwat's new book, Our Democratic First Amendment, has been published by Cambridge University Press. Check out Professor Elizabeth Joh's podcast, "What Trump Can Teach Us About Con Law." Professor Carlton Larson's latest book, On Treason: A Citizen's Guide to the Law, was published in September.

Lastly, our generous donors have helped us address the pressing needs of our students. Gifts to the Dean's Discretionary Fund support students, enhance programs, and ensure the King Hall community is as strong as ever.

UC Davis Law would not be the force it is without alumni support for our talented students and faculty. Please join us in preparing our law students to create a better, more equitable world by making your gift today.
