I was honored to take part in a speaker series presented by the law firm K&L Gates LLP. As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, I was interviewed about my life experiences and autobiographical book How Did You Get to Be A Mexican? A White/Brown Man’s Search for Identity. You can view the interview here.

Here is a great post on LinkedIn that UC Davis Law Class of 1987 alum and K&L Gates partner Brendan Gutierrez McDonnell wrote about the event:

"In front of the K&L Gates community, I had the privilege and honor of co-moderating with Tricia McNeill an important conversation with #UCDavisLawSchool Dean Kevin Johnson about "Being of Mixed Race or Heritage; The Search for Identity." We discussed the Dean's award winning book, "How Did You Get to be Mexican; A White/Brown Man's Search for Identity". The conversation was rich in content as we covered many interesting topics ranging from the Dean's cultural shock of attending Harvard Law School after being raised in Southern California with his Mexican American family, to the racial injustices of today, to parenting children of mixed-race or heritage. Adding to the conversation was the fact that both Tricia and I are also of mixed race or heritage. The Dean's warmth, thoughtfulness, authenticity, humility and talent captured all of us. I am grateful for the work done by our K&L Gates Management and our Diversity Committee in sponsoring and organizing an educational series of Conversations on Race. Special thanks to Anil Patel who thoughtfully introduced the event as a member of the Diversity Committee Task Force and to ShiauYen Chin-Dennis who recommended the Dean as our speaking guest."

Thank you to K&L Gates for including me!
